Q. I recently purchased an upgrade to WISE 5 and it installed with no problems. However, when I try to install Smart Patch I am getting a message telling me I need WISE version 4.0g or higher. What is going on?

A. The older Smart Patch installation does not work with WISE 5.0 installations. The update Smart Patch works with both versions 4 and 5 of WISE. To use the older version, run the Smart Patch installation with the /X command line switch and extract the SPATCHWS.DLL file into the C:\WISE\ADVANCED directory.

Q. I use the 'WISE 4.0' setup program on a number of my applications. And with all my apps I provide an uninstall option. My problem is WISE copies the UNWISE.EXE file to the windows directory by default, so there is only one instance of the file. If I decide to uninstall one of the applications, the UNWISE.EXE file gets deleted therefore an uninstall on other apps can not be achieved.

I've tried installing the file to my MAINDIR but when UNWISE.EXE is executed, it can not delete the MAINDIR because UNWISE.EXE still exists. What do I do?

A. There is an 'Action' you need to use to overcome this problem; Open/Close INSTALL.LOG With this action, your script should look like the following:

Stop writing to Installation log
Install File C:\Program Files\WISE\UNWISE.EXE to %WIN%\UNWISE.EXE
Continue/Start writing to installation log
